Job Journey at FAIM

Highwood Trusses has trust in FAIM client's work.

Dallas has been with Foothills Advocacy In Motion for about five years. She said FAIM has helped her feel comfortable in her environment — made her feel like she belonged somewhere and helped her with her confidence in her abilities.

One of the ways that FAIM has helped her is finding employment. Dallas has worked at Highwood Trusses in High River for the past two years. She goes in once a week to do janitorial work in the office. Initially her FAIM job coach joined her at the job site.

As Dallas grew in her skills and knowledge the coach was able to slowly back away, allowing Dallas to work on her own.

Highwood Trusses was familiar with FAIM’s program and wanted to give back to the community. Highwood’s administration members say they are happy with her work ethic, adding she is a pleasure to have around.

In an interview, Dallas stated she enjoys working at Highwood Trusses.

“Because they are kind, nice, they see my potential and they treat me like a person,” she said. “I get treated like any other employee, not like a person with a disability… and they offer me coffee.”

Dallas has had a great employment journey so far. Her advice to others looking for employment is don’t be afraid to try a job.

She said to believe in and be honest with yourself. She is thankful she did those things as they helped her find and keep employment.

Peavey Mart Success!

Zachery has worked at Peavey Mart for nine months. He said he loves working at the Strathmore business.

“They make me feel relaxed, welcomed and they help me if needed, nice people,” he said.

FAIM has assisted him with job training support but the success at Peavey Mart is all Zachery. He said FAIM gave him the confidence to do the job but with determination and effort he does his best job.

He said he recommends others looking for a job to “go for it, my job bring me joy.”  and thanks Peavey Mart for giving him the opportunity to learn new skills and show his strengths.
