The Lafferty’s Wake fundraising gala this past weekend was definitely one for the books! We hosted this event at DeWinton Hall as a way to raise money for the many wonderful adults with developmental disabilities we support. We were completely blown away by the overwhelming generosity from businesses and people in the community who helped make the night a success.
We originally set out with what we thought was an ambitious fundraising goal of $12,000. After tallying the numbers, we learned we far exceeded that goal with a whopping total of over $17,500 brought in for our non-profit organization!
We would first off like to thank the Okotoks Dewdney Players who put on this fantastic show for us. We asked this wonderful group if they would donate an encore performance of Lafferty’s Wake and they were more than happy to volunteer their time to this cause.
The Dewdney Players spent hours setting up for this event and we cannot thank them enough for their hard work and positive attitudes. They were such a pleasure to work with. If you haven’t heard of them or would like to see one of their shows, you can check out www.dewdneyplayers.com
We would also like to thank our major sponsors who helped us cover a big chunk of the costs of the event. Thank you so much to:
Alberta Interlake Games Inc. – Gold Sponsor
Re/Max Okotoks – Silver Sponsor
Bob & Carol MacDougall – Silver Sponsor
One of the highlights of the evening was our huge silent auction and would like to thank the over 100 local businesses who contributed. Because of them, we raised over $7,500 from the silent auction alone!
And of course we’d also like to thank all our amazing volunteers who helped make the night a success, as well as everyone who bought tickets to the event.
